Lufthansa Lands in Minneapolis, Raleigh-Durham

NEW YORK – This week, Lufthansa operated inaugural flights to two new destinations, Raleigh-Durham and Minneapolis.

Both are nonstop services from the airline’s hub in Frankfurt, Germany and represent the airline’s latest efforts to boost its presence in the U.S. The airline now operates flights to 26 cities in the U.S.

Lufthansa will operate flights between Frankfurt and Raleigh-Durham International Airport five times weekly with Airbus A330-300 aircraft in a three-class configuration.

Flights between Minneapolis-Saint Paul and Frankfurt will also operate five times weekly, utilizing Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The North Carolina Connection

In North Carolina, the airline’s new flights to Raleigh-Durham are its second to the East-coast state, joining Charlotte.

Lufthansa notes that their flights between North Carolina create a direct link to business hubs and R&D centers in Germany.

The airline has been flying to the state for almost 20 years and now services North Carolina with 12 weekly flights.

The new route competes with American Airlines, which operates heavily out of the state. Charlotte, one of American’s largest hubs, is a key gateway for the airline.
